Aubrey is in this crazy, confusing, yet amazing age. I'm loving it and am perplexed by it all at the same time. Two year olds are something else, man!
My outgoing, social butterfly daughter has turned into a mama's girl at the sight of strangers & other kids. Nursery at church is a challenge now and there are lots of tears. When kids come over for play dates, she won't let go of me for about 20 minutes until she warms up to them. It's all so new! I'm just trying to be there for her when she needs me - I know this stage will pass soon. To be honest it's kind of nice to have her clinging to me for once ;)
She is also terrified of so many things now. She used to love going to Steve's basketball games on Thursday nights and now whenever the buzzer goes off in between quarters, she bawls her eyes out. She also is scared of the vacuum, garbage disposal, and basically anything loud. Her little lip will quiver and she'll say, "I scared, mama." and hug me. It breaks my heart!
Although she's timid with strangers, this girl's personality when around people she knows & loves is the best. She is hilarious - making me laugh all day long at the stuff that comes out of her mouth. The other day Steve was holding an ice cold water bottle onto Aubrey's face and she kept saying 'Brrr!' She then came up to me to put it on my leg and she said, "Don't worry Mom! it's warm!" You can't even teach that, people. She is a natural prankster.
She is obsessed with the Chicken Dance, jumping on the bed with mama (don't tell dad, he thinks it's bad for the bed or something - such a boring grown up he is!), puzzles (still. We seriously are buying new puzzles every few weeks because I get so bored of doing the same ones!), playing with water outside, painting nails, (she got her first pedicure last weekend and I'm afraid we've created a diva child), & basically anything I am doing.
Barely eats anything! It amazes me that she stays in the 50th percentile for weight because she eats a bite or two at each meal. She does eat a lot of fruit, cheese, & veggie pouches so I guess she will survive. She also drinks milk all. day. long.
She is starting to like Kate even more now that she is old enough to play with toys. She loves showing Kate what she's playing with, & always making sure she has a rattle in her hand. :)
She's a smart cookie and can put some 24 piece puzzles together by herself. She has memorized several sight words, & we are working on learning to spell them, too. I'm trying to teach her as much as possible since she is in a stage where she LOVES learning - reading, flashcards, puzzles, learning apps, etc. Better take advantage before she starts getting more opinionated!
She is always singing! She has the worst voice EVER and we love it. A sound only a mother could love. :)
Well, there's a little update on Aubrey - 2 years, 2 months, & 2 weeks old. LOVE her!

ReplyDeleteAhh yes the scared phase. I remember it well. My little boy was very scared of lots of things after he turned 2 but he has grown out of alot of them now (he's 3 in September). Aubrey is beautiful you should be so proud :)
ReplyDeleteLisa I wanted to ask if you might consider doing a post about your housekeeping routine (if you have one). Do you have a schedule you follow? I know it's not the most thrilling of topics but I think it would help a lot of mums out :)

Of course, I have attempted. It really is very good things.

she's probably not eating much at meals because of all the milk she drinks in between meals. maybe try limiting it or giving it to her after she has finished a meal so she doesn't fill up on it. my little sister used to never eat much at all but i remember her always drinking milk all day long too! but it's great she likes milk! my almost 16 month old is allergic to dairy so we pay $16 a gallon for goats milk! it's crazy!

OOOH who wouldn't like to hug a baby as cute as Aubrey!!!! Soak it all up mama it sounds great. Too soon she'll be Miss Independent all over again. My six month old doesn't like being cuddled (she lets out blood curdling screams if I do) and I am envious of the phase you are in. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I do second your housekeeping routine post! My house generally looks like a disaster area, I always wonder how you keep your house so clean, you look great, and the kids look great too! There are days when I want to hose down the house, my daughter and myself all in one go!
